CHAROITE
Charoite is an unusual and rare stone found only in one place - along the Charo River in Russia. Discovered in the 1940's, it was first brought to public attention in 1978. Its colors range from bright lavender, lilac and violet to deep purple. It is often seen with patches of black (Aegerine) or orange (Tinaksite).

Wearing Charoite is supposed to enhance self-esteem and feelings of security as well as heal general aches and pains. While many believe the stone was named for the Charo River, others believe the name comes from the Russion word "chary" which means charms or magic.

Charoite is sensitive to heat and should not be steam-cleaned or placed in an ultrasonic cleaner.
