PERIDOT
Peridot is the August birthstone and one of the very few gemstones that nature creates in only one color. Very fine traces of iron account for its deep green color with a slight golden hue. Peridot was said to be Cleopatra's favorite stone, and it is thought that some of the emeralds she wore were actually peridots.
The ancient Romans coveted Peridot's brilliant green sparkle and named it "Evening Emerald". The Hawaiians treasured Peridot believing it to be the tears of the Goddess Pele. Lorenzo finds Peridot in Jilin, China.
